my day off today. it was my sis in law's turn to work. i got bored so i took her kids to the playground. i was the popular kid on the playground. ok, i was the tallest person out there, so they naturally gravitated my way. still! as i've posted before, and it still holds true, no matter how badly i want to be treated like an adult, i can't get the hang of being an adult. i still don't see why climbing up the slide is such a big deal. (i would so do it if no one was looking.) i climbed up the slide plenty when i was little, and i'm (practically) fine.
my slide was metal, slick, slippery and set into concrete. it scalded the skin off your bones in the summer. you shot down with enough force to fling you halfway across the playground if you were wearing the right pants. it was 12 ft. tall, and angled almost straight down. no safety features, besides the sharp corners that might snag your clothing as you fall off headfirst. it was pretty dangerous and fun. we slid down, we climbed up, we hung off the poles, we dived headfirst.
their slide is made of plastic. textured to keep you from sliding too fast. sliding too fast=sliding at all..it's 5 feet tall, and barely angled. practically equipped with a safety harness. it is nestled gently into an eight-inch deep bed of rounded pebbles, which i believe next year will be replaced with bubble wrap. their slide is zzzz *snore* .. no wonder they want to climb up it! what else is it good for?
uhh..
grow up me..grow up..
